I Can’t Believe It – That Is Why You Fail!

Star WarsI loved this Yoda quote.  How true it is!  Not that I buy into failure but I am a huge advocate that beliefs drive everything!  I just finished leading an amazing seminar on the weekend and after each seminar I lead I am present on one hand to ‘the power of the human spirit’ and on the other hand the ‘power of peoples default identity’.  What do I mean by this?  One’s default is the disempowered state we end up in when we are impacted by some external force.  A circumstance, an inner critic statement, an external opinion, a past based dynamic.  There are many things that can usurp one’s belief.

What I am interested in exploring in this week’s blog is this:  What beliefs are hindering you from achieving what you want?  And why?

I know more than most what it takes to stay the distance.  I turn 10 years old, well my businesses do in July of this year.  They say overnight success takes 10 years.  To become an expert in your field you need to have clocked in excess of 10,000 hours, well yours truly feels like she has clocked in excess of 100,000 hours.  What’s my point.  I constantly get challenged, constantly get confronted, constantly question, constantly doubt, constantly want to get off the court BUT I DON’T because fundamentally I know that I am in alignment with what I am being called to do.  There is no other court for me to play on.  Just because I have these default based disempowered thoughts does not mean they have to play out.  I am just one of the fastest to shift my state.  Based on my commitment to the cause.

If you believe you can, you can and if you believe you can’t you can’t – love the simplicity of this.  I know I am responsible for everything I create in my life.  I am interested in what it takes to continue believing in something when the visible results have not yet transpired.

I have always loved the Bamboo Story of Farmers in China – they have a particular type of bamboo crop that takes 6 years gestation to harvest, apparently, as the story goes, the bamboo on the day of year 6 comes out of the ground overnight. These same seasoned farmers who farm these bamboo crops doubt that the bamboo will still surface at year 6 – I find that fascinating because they have had evidence in previous years that this is the case.  Even those whom have evidence, doubt.  Doubt comes with the territory of trusting ones faith.  The key in my opinion is to observe the doubt, the questioning, the naysayers, the market, the perceived challenges and not allow it to have you to get off the court.  Use it as the fuel to stay committed, stay on course.  A high percentage of people lack faith, lack commitment and wonder why they do not achieve the heights of what they want.

So I say to you today:

  1. If I can stay committed, so to can you!
  2. If I can transform every belief I have ever had, so can you!
  3. If I can weather the so called storm, so can you!
  4. If I can constantly regenerate myself even when I do not want to but know I must, so can you!
  5. If I can deal with betrayal life time after lifetime and still trust, so can you!
  6. If I can have every conceivable obstacle usurp what I am doing and yet not allow it to alter my course, so can you!
  7. If I can ‘be with’ others judgements, assessments and criticisms of me and not allow it to impact my state, so can you!
  8. If I can continue believing when all evidence states the contrary, so can you
  9. If I can continue to stay committed when everyone around you is thinking you are mad to continue, so can you!
  10. If I can believe in actualising my dreams because I know deep down that it is only a matter of time – and time is not relevant in the spiritual realm, then so can you!

There are times when you feel you are so close and yet so far, yet the irony, at that precise moment you want to get off the court, the harvest is just around the corner.  The plant cannot be forced to grow, it will grow at the right time dimensions as part of its evolution.  We too are the same.  We too are evolving and when the time is right, it will be right.  Our job is to stay the course.  I will end with Winston Churchill’s famous statement:  ‘Never, Never, Never Give Up!

    Interesting blog Sally. Most people reading this would know of the principles around the law of attraction and I love the way Freefall espouses living this on a moment by moment basis – EVERY moment of your life. I am going through a significant personal transformation right now and can relate to every one of the 10 points above! I have a number 11 to add to the list;
